YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Lips & Cheeks in 03 Rose Libre

YSL-Kiss-&-Blush-Rose-Libre-1To say that I was ecstatic to try my very first YSL Kiss & Blush is a huge understatement Nothing excites me more than discovering new treasures particularly when they’re from the beauty department. I realise that sounds a little shallow but sometimes the mind needs a little time-out, wouldn’t you agree?

Back to the YSL Kiss & Blush and once again YSL have made it pretty easy for us beauty lovers to pull out our wallets and hand over our hard earned cash. Sure there might be a little trepidation at first (hello steep price point), but the Kiss & Blush are pretty hard to resist once you’ve given them a whirl. I mean take a look at these babies – are they not the prettiest things you’ve ever seen? Granted they look like fancy bottles of nail polish, but that’s part of the allure wouldn’t you say?

YSL-Kiss-&-Blush-Rose-Libre-4When I initially heard YSL was launching a 2-in-1 lip and cheek product I was super excited. I spent a considerable amount of time trawling through online images. I knew choosing just one shade (from a sea of pretty colours) was going to be the hardest part.

I’m usually a bright lip kinda girl but after some deliberation I chose the shade 03 Rose Libre which under normal circumstances, isn’t a shade I would have gravitated toward. 03 Rose Libre a neutral mid-toned pink which has the slightest bluish tint that just works for me – it’s just easy.

The air whipped luminous texture feels very lightweight on both the lips and cheeks. As a blush it has a lovely translucent finish (sans shimmer) that imparts a really lovely and healthy sheer wash of colour, that just so happens to make me look like I’ve just gone for a winter run. On the lips, it appears much more matte. Admittedly there is a little slip on first application but it eventually sets. It doesn’t cake when being built up and the longevity is good but not amazing (if I’m completely honest). What I like most about this product is that it works as a multipurpose product meaning there is less to throw in my makeup bag plus it’s great for when I want that match-matchy look.

This is by far my favourite launch in a long time from YSL and I’m looking forward to adding more shades in the future, when my wallet permits. Have you tried these yet?

Weekend Edit: Style #9

weekend-edit-9Hello lovelies, It’s my favourite time of the week again and as per usual I’m excited and relieved the weekend is here – who’s with me? Without sounding like a beat up record my week has been pretty hectic mostly with work and packing (the story of my life it seems). I also celebrated my birthday this week but kept it pretty low key. I picked up lots of nice goodies, some of which I will share with you in the coming weeks. Of course I’d love any of the above in case anyone was feeling generous, ha!

What’s everyone up to this weekend? Anyone else a fellow cancerian and celebrating their birthday this month? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay safe and have a blast everyone!

Beauty bans and old flames

old-flames-1So I’ve been on a self imposed buying ban for the past fortnight. I know a fortnight isn’t very long but I’m still on my eyeshadow buying ban so it feels like it’s been a lot longer than it has been. A ban break every now and then never hurt no one, especially my credit card.
old-flames-2If I’m honest my fortnight ban is almost over (ends tomorrow) and while I haven’t had anything new to blog about, the whole things has sort of gone unnoticed. I admit I’m not the most material person out there, in fact the less is more approach is a a rule I abide by pretty much all the time. I’d rather buy one fancy lipstick I really like then three cheaper ones that I probably won’t use. That’s just how I roll. The same rules apply to clothing and other innate objects. I just don’t like clutter, especially clutter I trick myself into thinking I like but really don’t.
old-flames-3With that being said I’ve decided to go through my current beauty stash and pull out some pieces that don’t get enough love. Last week I said I wanted to rotate my products more so here are a few bits I want to use more of over the coming weeks.

I adore all of the products you see in the pics but sometimes I think I’m just a little precious about them. Some of them I’ve neglected while others I keep saving for special occasions. I feel like this is such a silly mindset as every day should be a special occasion right? So with that being said these are going to get a lot more use a lot starting now.

As a reference the products in the pics above include: Bobbi Brown Smokey Warm Eye Palette, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour (#30), (lipstick as they appear left-right in the pic above) YSL Rouge Volupte  Shine in Rouge in Danger (#4), MAC  Vegas Volt, MAC Absolute Power, Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye brightener, YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch (shade 1 – Luminous Radiance).

What are your thoughts? Have you imposed a ban/break on spending?

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine: Shine Coral Incandescent (#12)

YSL-coral-incandescent-1I think I may have a new favourite lipstick formula. Yep, you heard right. YSL Rouge Volupte shine’s are my new obsession. I first posted about this amazing lippie here. I was so impressed that I rushed out and bought another one.

YSL have nailed it with their Rouge Volupte Shine formula. Not only is the colour payoff impressive but the texture is so balmy and nourishing. While it goes on glossy it settles into a nice stain after a couple of hours and the scent (yummy watermelon) is deliciously enticing. Clearly I’m being biased as watermelon happens to be my favourite fruit.

YSL-coral-incandescent-2My latest acquisition is in the shade Coral Incandescent (12) – a lovely cajun coral. Let me tell you, this coral seriously packs a punch. I like to mix things up and apply it lightly if I’m after something subtle or build up the layers for a more intense look. It’s the perfect summer shade that I know is going to get a lot of wear. On a side note, I may have purchased another shade. I know, I know, I’m terrible.  I’m not one for spoilers so I reckon you should check back in a week or so and see which shade I picked up.

I’d love to know whether or not you’ve tried the Rouge Volupte Shines and which one is your favourite shade. Alternatively, let me know what lippie your rock’n at the moment.

As always, thanks for dropping by my blog and hello to my new subscribers 🙂 Thank you for your support! Have a fab weekend lovelies!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine: Fuschia in Rage (#19)

YSL-fuchsia-in-rage-1By now you’ve probably realised I have a serious obsession with lipsticks. It’s the one thing I like to splurge on as i think it’s a real mood lifter and it’s where i like to really experiment with colour.

I recently picked up YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick in  ‘Fuchsia in Rage’ – a true, bright fuchsia. This particular shade is unlike anything I currently own, so to say I was a little excited is an understatement. It’s definitely an alluring, modern pop of colour that doesn’t look quite so purple on the lips as it does in the bullet. The packaging alone is completely swoon-worthy and the lipstick wears beautifully. While it’s highly pigmented the wear-time is nothing to write home about. It does however, impart a stain which lingers throughout the day. Expect about 3-4 hours of wear, maybe less if you’re in the mood for food (or drinks if you prefer).

YSL-fuchsia-in-rage-2From what I can see Rouge Volupte Shine is the lovechild of Rouge Volupte and Volupte Sheer Candy. On my lips it feels like the perfect combination of the two, that is, it has the pigmentation and creaminess of the Rouge Volupte formula, with the texture and glossiness of the Volupte Sheer Candy formula. Pretty perfect union if you ask me.

I’m definitely going to explore more of the shades in the range. If, like me you’re a sucker for a daring dash of colour in a beautifully luxurious package with an exceptionally emollient finish, ‘Fuscia in Rage’ will definitely satisfy your craving.

Tuesday Temptations 170913

Diorskin Nude Skin-perfecting hydrating concealer: I’m always on the lookout for a good concealer. Diorskins Nude BB cream is a firm favourite of mine and I’m curious as to weather this is equally as amazing, but in the form of a concealer. Super keen to sample this properly particulalry as it claims to be moisturising.

Rouge Volupté Shine (12 Corail Incandescent): I’ve wanted this for so long. It’s such a punchy colour and perfect for Spring – which we’re heading into here in Australia. Can’t fault the formulation and packaging – it’s perfection. I have a few other colours I’m also intrigued by (in this range) but given that they’re so expensive I can only really afford one or two. Definitely on my shopping list.

Yves Saint Laurent Pure Chromatics – 4 wet & dry eye shadows (08): I saw Jen Hawkins wearing this is the recent Myer beauty catalogue and I loved the warmth it gave her face.  So, so pretty, and I love that you have the wet or dry option.

What’s been tempting you this week?
