Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil

Hourglass-Brow-Arch-1I’ve been searching for the perfect eyebrow pencil for what feels like forever and I think I’ve finally found it. I’ve tried a fair few pencils in my time but nothing comes close to matching the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. Honestly, everything I’ve tried up until this point has felt inferior.

First up I have to mention the sleek packing; it has a real luxe appeal and feels weighty which I like. Despite the hefty price tag ($48 AUD) I’m pretty impressed with the amount of product you get. I say ‘pretty impressed’ loosely because I haven’t had the courage to see how much actual product sits in the retractable mechanism (I’ve stuffed a few products this way before so I’m not wiling to take the risk). All I know is that I’ve hardly made a dent in the product and I’ve literally used it every day since I picked it up – so, I’m pretty impressed!

I also love the automatic/retractable pencil because it means I don’t require a sharpener, which in turn means I’m not wasting product. I can’t tell you how many pencils I’ve gone through while trying to sharpen a waxy product in humid conditions. It used to drive me bonkers. Never again (hopefully).

Hourglass-Brow-Arch-3I have the shade Dark Brunette but at the time of purchase I really struggled  between it and Soft Brunette. Three MUA’s later and I picked the darker shade as all three MUA’s said it framed my face better. I have to admit, the shade is a bit darker then I’m used to but it doesn’t look unnatural at all and that’s because there’s no red pigment in the formula. In case you’re curious Soft Brunette was a tad more grey in comparison.

Despite it’s appearance the pencil is super easy to use. I start off by grooming my brows with the included spoolie and brush my eyebrows down to reveal my natural shape. I then apply the product to the fullest part off my brow and continue filling in sparse ares with short, quick strokes. When I’ve achieved the look I’m after I finish by brushing my brows in an upward motion. I find I don’t feel the  need to add extra products because the waxy texture adds volume and provides hold as is.Hourglass-Brow-Arch-6For those who might be interested the Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil is “free of sulfates, phthalates, synthetic dyes, fragrance, gluten and vegan-friendly”.

In my opinion it’s very effective product and is a breeze to use. The wax to powder texture stays on all day so no more worries about my brows running a muck during the course of the day. I honestly love it and would definitely buy it again!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone out there tried the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor? I’ve heard it’s quite comparable (minus the price tag). I’d love to hear from you if you have and what you thought, particularly if you’ve tried the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil too.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Haven’t tried the Tom Ford, in fact, I haven’t tried many brow products, I’m kind of new to all the eyebrow makeup concept, heheh. Anyway your shade looks very natural and waxy pencils work best so I bet it will work wonders for you 🙂 and the packaging is gorgeous ❤
Right now I'm using the Anastasia tinted brow gel I ordered for my wedding, have you tried it? I will review it soon on my blog but I've only used it for about three days heheh.
Hope you have a lovely week and cheer up! Lots of love and may the force be with you during your moving days 😛

    • I still haven’t tried any products by Anastasia….. So I’m looking forward to reading your review. I love brow products but I find most are just too warm for me. This one is perfect though. How are you finding the brow gel? Do you plan on using it on the big day?

Ps: thanks for your thoughts sweet cheeks. It’s been a busy week but it will all settle soon. Thanks for sending happy vibes my way. Have a beautiful day and week ahead! xx

      • Yes I do! heheh. I bought it with the wedding in mind. I’m liking it so far, will definitely use it on the big day.
I’m happy your moving is going great. Just a little push more and you’ll be enjoying your wonderful new place! Stay strong beautiful! ❤

  2. I have this but am so sad to say that we didn’t get on 😦 honestly for me it was the pencil tip, i found that it’s just too large for my brows. Maybe I’ll bring it out again and give it another try. The packaging is lovely though and I was so mad to have paid the price for it and not be using it!

    • Oh that’s a shame 😦 I think the tip is a real deal breaker for most people, so I can totally understand why you didn’t get along with it. I agree about the packaging – so luxe, but the price is questionable. Hope you can get some use out of it 🙂

  3. Gah! Hourglass is everything. I love every single product they make. They’re so innovative – especially with the shape of this pencil, which I’ve never seen before. It takes me a year to get through an eyebrow pencil, but this has been on my list for a while and will probably be my next purchase…

    • I totally agree – such an innovative product 🙂 and my favourite brow pencil so far! I think most people are on the fence with the angled tip but I love it. Definitely consider it when you need to invest in a new brow liner… It’s gorgeous 🙂
